"Anette von Eichel combines her relatively deep and somewhat guttural voice masterly with parts in higher registers. Her arrangements of known songs are characterized by her own ideas and expressiveness, and her improvisations without lyrics are impressive."
(Kölner Stadtanzeiger, October 14, 2003)

"The jazz singer Anette von Eichel is one of the best vocalists in the jazz scene, both with big bands and small ensembles, even at the big festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival in Den Haag."
(Westdeutsche Zeitung, December 12, 2002)

"The German singer Anette von Eichel finds her inspiration in nature. Is it the saxophone of Michael Erian or the piano of Wolfert Brederode? But something from the stillness and seriousness of nature continues to reverberate in her music."
(De Telegraaf (NL), May 2, 2002)

"Anette von Eichel sings magnificent jazz without sounding artificial."
(North Sea Jazz Festival 2002, tip from the program manager)

"The first song on a debut album is something like a calling card. It signals, 'This is me, this is my style, and you can expect this from me.' The young jazz singer Anette von Eichel demonstrated immediately with the first piece, which she composed, on her CD titled "Welcome to My World", what an enormous talent was educated at the King's Conservatory in Den Haag. That which the calling card promises is also fulfilled by the 11 other songs on the recording. Not only her ease in handling different styles in such different song types surprised me, but also the way she masters of all facets of scat singing, how she is on target with the almost incidental air in a piece such as Egberto Gismontis' "Café", how she swings and slurs the blue notes as is appropriate. In addition, she can phrase, i.e., she shapes each song from the internal logic of the harmonies, the melodic lines and the existing lyrics, and she has her own unmistakable timbre, her own tonal accents. (...) A debut with excellent perspectives: what more could you ask for?"
(Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, September 14, 2001)

" 'Ich weiss nicht, zu wem ich gehöre' (tr. 'I know who I belong to') is the last track of the debut CD by the singer Anette von Eichel. It’s good that she kept this German song for the end of her CD with songs otherwise in the English language. Then the listener has the chance to answer this identify question well. Does Anette von Eichel not know, where she belongs? Then we should tell her. This German singer, educated in Den Haag, is at home in the jazz world. She provides a refreshing contribution to the vocal jazz world with this CD produced beautifully by Hein van de Geyn. In addition to good timing, a beautiful timbre and her very unique voice, she also has very good taste. She has gathered a group of interesting, international musicians around her, but she doesn't let us hear them on each track. This is a praiseworthy conception, which is heard much too seldom. Anette von Eichel lets her music breathe and is not afraid of silent spots, something which sounds very pleasant."
